A Smart Stylish Alternative to a Suit and Tie, Over 40 Menswear

Smart menswear: Blue blazer \ striped sweater \ grey dress trousers \ brown brogues | Silver Londoner, over 40 style
As you can probably see from the photos it was extremely windy and I had a bad hair day! Always one to persevere, it was definitely time to wear a striped jumper with this nice blue jacket, a pair of grey trousers and brown brogues [similar] to finish off the outfit.

I do find brogues the most comfortable shoes to wear anytime (and stylish of course).

I only occasionally put on a striped jumper or patterned top of any sort, I'm just never that taken on the choices that I find but I think this one works well and compliments the jacket.

I'd probably say that this look is the epitome of stylishly casual and I'd more than likely wear this type of outfit regularly, especially if I was planning on going out somewhere nice.

Menswear in summer

I won't know what to do with myself once summer comes around, it'll be too hot for jackets and jumpers, probably too hot for brogues too... blimey, I'm going to have to review my summer wardrobe I think!

It's fair to say that I like to layer, it just feels right for me - but I do draw the line at flip-flops, ugh...

HOW ABOUT YOU, ARE YOU MORE INCLINED TOWARD SUMMER OUTFITS? LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS BELOW...

  1. It's nice to know that you guys care about having a bad hair day also!! Although when you're wearing such a stylish outfit, who's even looking at your hair, right? (That's my hope at least, since I have a mop of curls that are crazy)!!
I love the striped sweater under this jacket, especially since it's so casual where we live, and you very rarely see ties!!

    1. It was REALLY windy Jodie, I kinda just gave up in the end!!
I must confess, I don't normally wear ties and it's the same where I live by being fairly casual too. I think a nice sweater is all you need.

      Bye for now!

  3. Yes, the wind was playing with you and "working" a new look for your hair. I really like the logic in the combinations you make. This logic can be used not only in masculine looks but also feminine, both now and in the future. It really is a very good guidance!

  4. Ha that is a good point about Mens shoes in Summer! I never considered how hot your little tootsies must get wearing shoes & socks, boo ;-)
By the way I bloody hate wind too & since I've been blogging have spent more time out in it than I care to. Makes me crazy!

    1. Oh Michelle, if my experiences with Catherine and the wind are anything to go by I can only sympathize with you!!
Funny thing is, I've tried wearing flip-flops on the beach but I could never get the whole 'plastic thing between the toes grip' correct. I'd either end up tripping over them or chucking them in the bin... stupid things!!

      Have a great week
