The idea of workwear is (to some) not worth investing in due to obvious reasons: Why spend a great deal of money on something you only wear at work? Is this investment really necessary?
The wife and I (in our first joint photo shoot!) are wearing shirts and blazers gifted to us from Arthur Shirtley, a young British brand specialising in quality workwear. And when I say quality, I mean exactly that: 100% cotton shirts and 100% silk blazers that have been made to an amazingly high standard. I'm wearing the Fitzrovia blazer and the Somerset House Fountains shirt, and Catherine is wearing the Hampstead blazer and the Greenwich Picnic shirt.
You can see Catherine's outfit in full on her blog Not Dressed As Lamb.
These great pieces prove that spending more money on quality workwear - that doubles up as weekend wear - makes a great deal of sense. Invest in great blazers and shirts and you can style them more casually for when you're not at work. I think Catherine has called this "cost per wear" or something, the more you wear it, the less it costs. It's a woman's logic!
To my surprise I found the feel of the shirt to be absolutely fantastic, it has a lovely design that I haven't seen on any other formal shirts before and the texture of the fabric is of extremely high quality. It's been made with great attention to detail.
The blazer is surprisingly lightweight. Although it gives the impression of being a heavy tweed, the fact that it's made of 100% silk means it would certainly be something you could wear as the seasons gets warmer. There is no doubt that the quality of the blazer is as high as that of the shirt and I was happy that this combination was very comfortable to wear for a guy such as me in the workplace or at a social event.
It felt right to wear some nice dark denim straight leg jeans here, with brogue boots to finish off this look that's perfect for the weekend.
This is a very comfortable outfit and definitely something that I'll be happy to wear again.

I think both myself and the wife were very pleased with how well our outfits went together and the fact that neither of us were expecting our blazers to be, well... I guess you could say "summer wear" - it was a nice surprise!WOULD YOU INVEST IN HIGH QUALITY ITEMS THAT YOU COULD WEAR AT WORK AND OUT OF WORK? LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS BELOW!

ReplyDeleteThanks Rebekah! You're too kind XX
DeleteWow! That shirt looks to be such amazing quality; the sheen on the fabric is beautiful! I'd never guess from the photos that the blazer is such a light summery fabric. Both of these do seem perfect for styling as workwear or smart weekend wear. GORGEOUS!!! xx
ReplyDeleteIt really is a well made shirt, Lisa.
DeleteThe detail is very interesting and the fabric has a nice weight to it. I was taken aback by how 'lightweight' the jacket was but it's perfect for those warm days we've got ahead of us!!
I hope you're well and speak to you again soon

Looking great Keith! I can only dream my husband would look like this. He did... in the old days.. sigh.

Thank you for the compliments Keith! Both of you look stunning in the shoot, and I must say the blue and grey is really your colour combo.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to more photoshoots of you and Catherine, and hope you lead the way for a broader trend. It's time we saw more amazing, grown-up couples in the blogosphere :)

Women's logic? Cheeky bugger! But yes I go along with this 100% Keith, it makes sense particularly when you can wear the item for work & play. I have to say I'm blown away by the obvious quality here especially that Blazer lining - Wow.
ReplyDeleteHey there Michelle, I can be a cheeky bugger it's true!
DeleteThe lining is really nice isn't it, such gorgeous detail..
Have a great week (get ready for a cold snap)
