Mens Sportswear: Fred Perry Top, Converse and Beanie

Casual Menswear: Fred Perry, Converse and Beanie
For a sportswear look, this Fred Perry tracksuit top, Converse, beanie and gloves is just about perfect when you're out for a bracing stroll and you're looking for a snug yet liberating outfit to wear.

If you've just got to keep it spontaneous but still want to put a twist on what you're wearing (especially in the colder months) I like to embrace some classic items. A Fred Perry is synonymous with British style and sub culture, Converse All-Stars are iconic and look great with anything from suits to beach shorts and the beanie is bloomin' comfy! >>

Levi's Sherpa Collar Denim Jacket, Aviators, Beanie | Over 40 Casual Menswear

What could be better than a Levi's sherpa collar denim jacket, aviators and a beanie to confront the chilly winter days that are all too common at the moment? Not a lot really, this is an exceptionally comfortable ensemble and the jacket is top notch. The lining is really thick which is a quality "plus" with the denim, (it IS Levi's after all... whaddya expect, huh). >>

Casual Menswear: Brown Sweater, Jeans and Scarf

Casual menswear: Brown sweater, jeans and scarf
I really like this casual menswear look. A brown sweater, jeans and scarf are a really great combination; the brown in the top is the perfect colour for this time of year.
A dark denim is just about the mainstay for me at the moment as are the boots (which I seem to be wearing with everything).

There's not much more to say about this ensemble really, it works because it's simple and smart, it's just a matter of finding the right colour combination that suits you. Come the summer, you could revisit a similar look but rather than go for a heavy fabric and colour scheme, try a lighter linen with bright colours. >>

Menswear: Dark Striped Shirt | Jeans and Tan Belt

Menswear: Dark striped shirt, jeans and tan belt
I love the look of a dark striped shirt, jeans and a tan belt (with a pair of tan brogues thrown in for good measure, of course).

The statement of two strong colours opposing each other gives this outfit a very solid appearance and the rich dark denim is always a winner. Brogues are brogues and need to be worn at every possible moment so they'll always work in my book. The shirt is understated and the stripe within it does enough to give the overall look a subtle smart slant... (try saying THAT when you've had a few)!! >>

How to Style a Buffalo Plaid Shirt | Over 40 Smart Casual Menswear

Question, is there anything more comfortable than styling a buffalo plaid shirt, roll-neck and 7 For All Mankind jeans on a cold January morning? NO... I hear you cry, and you'd be right!

Weirdly, I only found out yesterday that what we call a lumberjack shirt in Blighty, is called a "buffalo plaid shirt" in the US of A... I kinda like that difference. >>

How to Style a Roll-Neck Sweater | With a Camel Blazer and Jeans

Menswear: Camel blazer, black roll neck and jeans
What I love about styling a roll-neck sweater with a blazer and jeans is the immediate "cool" factor that comes with something your parents wore to a beatnik club all those years ago or Richard Roundtree did with such swagger in Shaft. Roll-necks are the stuff of legend, often mocked as old fashioned... what's wrong with a bit of old fashioned anyway, it's obviously stood the test of time (like denim) and should be adorned whenever an opportunity arises. >>
