Styling Casual Brown Chinos, Over 40 Menswear

Casual Menswear: V-neck Jumper \ T-shirt \ Chinos \ Grey Jacket \ Canvas Boots \ Silver Londoner, over 40 style
After the craziness of the weekend that was the UK Blog Awards (at which the wife Not Dressed As Lamb won in the Fashion & Beauty category!), I was happy to swap my smart suit for some casual brown chinos. Huge congratulations to Catherine - third time lucky as they say!

This is a simple casual look that saw me through the weekend. A merino wool v-neck jumper with t-shirt, the chinos and a pair of canvas boots was just what the doctor ordered. I was looking through my wardrobe for something to wear out and it was still chilly enough to leave the summer clothes for now.

So many times over the last couple of weeks we've had sun but it's been chilly with a bracing wind and I've not wanted to put away the winter clothes just yet... this jacket certainly helps me against the elements!

I'm going to miss all this layering once it becomes unbearably hot, (okay... slight exaggeration from me there, I am OPTIMISTIC it will get unbearable in Blighty)! So my choices had been fairly straightforward and simplistic, and the v-neck jumper is a classic in the male wardrobe as is a grey marl t-shirt.

(By the way... If you'd like to keep up with my weekly posts, you can sign up here to receive an email every time I publish something new!)

Wearing grey and brown together

With the t-shirt untucked, it breaks up the layers in a good way between the trousers and the jumper. The brown of the chinos works well with the grey of the v-neck and jacket... this outfit gets a thumbs up from me.

IS THIS THE SORT OF OUTFITS THAT YOU GO FOR OR DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING ELSE THAT YOU GRAB FROM THE WARDROBE AND STYLE WITH CONFIDENCE? LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS BELOW.

    1. Thanks Michelle, I think I just fancied a change from all of that 'hair product' and the outfit did lend itself to the look!

      Have a great week

  2. I like that you left the t-shirt hanging out as some contrast to the darker colors!!

  3. I am with Michelle.. you change your hairstyle and you totally change your look. I like all of them. But it does make you a different man. I think your outfit style is very debonnaire. This casual outfit looks good on you, but a suit does as well. I am still very much in favour of that blue suit with the orange accessories (from the beginning).
Oh and I sort of copied your "sign up for email"-sentence. Very clever.

PS Thank you for taking me to the hotel. Also a very debonnaire action.

    1. I'd like to think that chivalry is not completely dead, Greetje.!

Thanks for the kind words, I think it's nice for a guy to make an effort and wear something other than a t-shirt and jogging bottoms when going out.
A suit might be a step too far at times but there is room for smart casual..!!
      Have a great week..

  4. I agree with the other ladies on your hair; it really suits this look.

And, can we talk about how your shoes pull this whole look together like a magazine edit? The blue goes so well with your jumper and coat, and the laces of the shoe jump out and emphasise that lovely tobacco colour of the trousers. Shoes really do maketh the outfit, even for men!

    1. I love your insight Lisa and agree with you 100% about shoes making the outfit.
I for one always look at shoes on other men because I feel, (rightly of wrongly) that it gives me a better understanding of the type of person they are, I'm not sure that it's sound advice but..

As for the hair, oh it's just a 'product-free' day.. sometimes you just gotta go natural!!

Enjoy the rest of your week
